When you take in more calories than your body can burn, the excess calories are then stored as fat. Where these fats are stored in your body is determined by collaborating factors such as sex, age and hormones.

Male and female initially have same pattern of fat storage but puberty sets in and alters that process, putting the female in a kind of seeming advantageous position over the male. Women stores excess fat from calories in their subcutaneous layer as subcutaneous fat (the kind of fat under the skin, hips, buttocks) and so those extra fat from calories tend to be distributed in their arms, thighs and buttocks and sometimes in their bellies.

He says that these numbers are simply guidelines and recommends keeping your waist size below them. I suppose you should go right away, get a measuring tape and take the measurement.

Take more healthy low calories diet; avoid junks and late night foods by all means. Engage in more physical activities to burn out those calories that have found their way into your body. Aerobic exercises like running, swimming, cycling, tennis; will be most useful in burning out body fat and ultimately belly fat.
